Upload a CSV with one property per row. Recognised columns (any one is enough):
- Easting / Northing (or X / Y) — most accurate; export from the LLPG by UPRN
- Latitude / Longitude
- Address (or Address1, Address2, Town…) with Postcode
- Postcode on its own — checks the postcode centre only
All original columns (e.g. UPRN, search reference) are kept in the output.
How a check works
- The location is found: grid references and coordinates are used as given; postcodes use the postcode centre (postcodes.io); addresses are matched against OpenStreetMap within the borough.
- The point is sent to the government Planning Data service, which returns every designation it lies in.
- The HM Land Registry title boundary (INSPIRE polygon) at the point is found, and anything that overlaps any part of that plot is listed as on plot. Designations that only touch the plot edge are not counted.
- A third query looks a short distance around the point, so listed buildings, protected trees and boundaries close to the property are flagged as nearby.
- The Article 4 result is cross-checked against Kingston's downloaded Article 4 boundaries. If the service can't be reached, the check falls back to the saved copy and says so.
Reading the search checklist
- Yes: applies at the point. Part of plot: applies to part of the Land Registry plot, not the point. Nearby: within the chosen distance, but not on the plot.
- No: nothing found, and this area does publish that type of data.
- Not published here: the council or national body hasn't published that data to Planning Data for this area, so the tool can't answer. Check the council's own register.
- Not confirmed: nothing found, but the tool couldn't confirm whether the data is published. Treat as unanswered.
Land Registry INSPIRE polygons show the extent of registered titles, not legal boundaries, and don't include the title number. Unregistered land has no polygon, so only the point and nearby checks run.

Limits
- This is an aid, not a substitute for the statutory Local Land Charges Register or the council's GIS. Confirm positive and borderline results against the direction documents.
- Datasets are only as complete as what each publisher has supplied to Planning Data. Check the Kingston data page for coverage.
- A postcode centre can sit in a different designation from some of the properties in that postcode. Use a grid reference or full address for formal searches.
- Address lookups use the public OpenStreetMap service and are limited to one per second.
